Abstract
The incidence of diabetic neuropathy is rapidly increasing worldwide due to advances in diabetic glucose control and extended life expectancies. Early diagnosis and management are essential to diabetic neuropathic patient management. Quantitative sensory tests, vibration threshold tests, monofilament tests, current perception threshold tests and autonomic function tests may all be used for the early diagnosis of diabetic neuropathies. These tests are used to assess the psychosomatic responses of patients. Therefore, patient compliance is important to improve sensitivity and specificity, and to decrease the coefficient of variance in test results.
